the claim process
How has my claim value been calculated?
If you provided past valuation certificates to your insurance company, Cameron & Co would have used this information to estimate current Retail values for your jewellery items as described. If no valuation certificates were available, you would have discussed your jewellery items with a Cameron & Co consultant. Your descriptions, photos and receipts, together with other information gathered, would have determined a current estimated Retail value for your items.
Why are you asking to collect an excess?
Some insurance companies collect the excess directly from you. Others ask us to collect the excess. We are always able to show you any instruction from your insurer that asks for the collection of an excess. If you feel there is some error, we are happy to contact your insurer and clarify.
How long will my claim take?
Cameron & Co must complete all appraisals within very strict time-frames. Please be assured we are meeting those time-frames. Sometimes there may be delays because your insurer is considering other aspects of your claim. Should you wish, we will contact your insurer for a progress report and update you with whatever information they have been able to pass on.
What if I am not happy with my replacement items?
If for any reason you are not happy with your selections, please contact our office and discuss your concerns. Provided the jewellery is not worn or damaged, we will do everything possible to rectify your concerns.
What happens if I am elderly or disabled and cannot travel?
Should it be possible, we will always schedule an appointment to visit you at home during office hours.
How will my jewellery be delivered?
For those times when you are unable to collect from the showroom, Cameron & Co uses a secure, fully trackable delivery service. We will notify you the day we are sending your items so you know when to expect them. Items may be sent to your home or workplace. If you miss the delivery, a calling card will be left with instructions on how to redeem your parcel.
Will I get a receipt for my replacement jewellery?
You will not be given a receipt for jewellery items supplied under your claim because you have not paid for them. We can provide a Replacement List that details the items and their values and collates with the value of your claim. If you have purchased items additional to your claim, then we are able to issue a receipt for that component. Any items supplied in excess of $1000 Retail will be provided with an independent valuation from a registered valuer (NCJV) that can be used to re-insure your replacement items.
Is a valuation certificate provided for my replacement item?
Yes, any items supplied in excess of $1000 Retail will be provided with an independent valuation from a registered valuer (NCJV) that can be used to re-insure your replacement items.
How long does it take to hand-make my order?
On average, a handmade item set with stones will take approx. 3-4 weeks. Should the item involve more intricate work, or require a special stone to be sourced, it may take longer. More simple items, such as a gold chain, will take approx. 1-2 weeks.
Can I buy more jewellery items additional to my claim?
Yes, if you would like to buy additional items, or upgrade your claimed item, Cameron & Co is able to offer you a substantial discount as per our contract with your insurance company.
